My name is Stewart Sackett. I am a brown belt in Jiu-jitsu under Eric Hemphill and a brown belt in Judo under Roy Kawaji. I have been a student of the German Kunst des Fechtens (art of fighting) since 2006 and co-founded the Western Martial Arts study group Drei Wunder WMA. I also have experience in Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Bartitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, and various self-defense curricula. I am a professional educator and a passionate coach.
This website exists to promote and facilitate my business as a coach, but also as a place for me to share my ideas about martial arts and coaching. I enjoy coaching a variety of subjects. While my primary focus as a martial artist is Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, my studies have been eclectic. In addition to BJJ I have also taught: Ringen and kampfringen (medieval German wrestling and combat wrestling, respectively), self-defense, and Victorian/Steampunk Jiu-jitsu. I've also consulted with writers who wanted to improve their ability to write violence credibly and compellingly.
Prices
Private lesson: $60 for one hour
Semi-Private lesson (2, 4, or 6 students): $30 per person for one hour
Series of 4 private lessons: $200 ($40 savings)
Series of 12 private lessons: $500 ($220 savings!)
Seminar (8 or more students): $40 per person for three hours
I am willing to travel to coach, but travel expenses may be added to my fees.
